About Chiropractic

"Chiropractic" comes from the Greek work Chiropraktikos, meaning "effective treatment by hand."  Chiropractic stresses the idea that the cause of many disease processes begins with the body's inability to adapt to its environment.  It looks to address diseases not by the use of drugs and chemicals, but by locating and adjusting a musculoskeletal area of the body which is functioning improperly.

Like maintaining your car, your teeth, your family, or your faith, maintaining the integrity of your nervous system requires an ongoing investment.  Those who want the very best add regular chiropractic care to their daily life practices.  True health is only possible with an optimally functioning nervous system.

 Chiropractic is safer than:

  • Surgery
  • Taking Aspirin
  • Flying on a commercial airline
  • Driving your car
Chiropractors focus on treating the source of pain or disease instead of just the symptoms, while patients experience healing through non-invasive and drug free treatment.  This holistic approach to treatment is simple, safe, and comfortable.

Chiropractic - 3 Phases of Care

Initial Care:   The first phase of care is referred to as Relief or Acute Care.  This is designed to eliminate or reduce the majority of the discomfort and stabilize the condition in the shortest amount of time.  During this phase of care, visits will be frequent.  Repeated visits will be required to reduce or eliminate the symptoms.

Rehab Care:  This phase is to correct any underlying spinal condition, while strengthening the muscles.  This improves spinal function and provides more complete or optimum healing of tissues and organ systems.  Visits occur at a reduced frequency.  Care is supplemented by exercises and modification of your daily work habits.

Maintenance/Wellness Care:  This phase is designed to maintain your improved health and spinal function, and to prevent the return of the original condition once spinal correction has been attained.  Regular attention catches small problems before they become serious, and helps you stay well.

About A Chiropractic Adjustment

The adjustment is the method by which we remove interference to the nervous system by restoring normal motion and alignment to the spine.  Once an adjustment is given you may experience soreness or discomfort for a few hours to a few days.  This is a normal response, and is caused by the muscles around your spine repositioning themselves.

Chiropractors are specialists in treating injuries associated iwth back and neck pain.  It's easy to see the relationship between back and neck pain with spinal misalignments, but many other conditions respond favorably to chiropractic care.

Because the spinal nerves also connect to your internal organs and tissues that control most functions of the body, it makes sense that a properly functioning nervous system has a healing effect on systemic problems.  You can now understand how a digestive problem, asthma, or even an earache can respond naturally to chiropractic treatment.
